In a tragic incident in Tongi’s Mirer Bazar area, a gas leak explosion led to the deaths of three members of the same family due to severe burns. The deceased have been identified as four-month-old infant Rayhan, his mother Hafiza Akter (20), and father Mohammad Ripon (25).

The incident occurred on Sunday morning (August 3). A gas leak from a pipeline caused an explosion, severely injuring the three family members. They were rushed to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery’s emergency department. Upon arrival, doctors declared the four-month-old infant Rayhan dead.

Subsequently, on Wednesday (August 6) around 11:30 PM, Hafiza Akter succumbed to her injuries while under treatment. Mohammad Ripon passed away in the early hours of Thursday (August 7) around 4:30 AM.

Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman, a resident surgeon at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, confirmed the incident. He stated that approximately 70% of Hafiza’s body and 80% of Ripon’s body were burnt. Both passed away while receiving treatment in the ICU.
